Based in SW London, Mitsuko, who carries out these treatments, is originally from Japan. This is her story of how she came to be a complementary therapist.
1993 I settled down in the UK and worked in an office, which I left after having my first child.
After giving birth for the second time, I had been suffering from minor problems, such as migraines, insomnia, hair loss and hay fever for about half a year, and without realising, I had relied on medicine to relieve the symptoms, and took them regularly. I had always wanted to find out how to relieve these symptoms through natural ways, such as complementary therapy, and after trying to relieve migraines by pressing therapeutic points, I was convinced that it had worked and so began my journey of complementary therapy.
2009 I tried a Reflexology tester course and I experienced my first Reflexology treatment which I really enjoyed and still remember. From here I decided to take the Diploma course so i could give others the opportunity to experience it .
2010 During the course, I learnt that that toxin removal was essential to keep the inner body healthy, and that massage was the most effective and basic skill for detoxification of the body.
I found that body massage was another way of living for a healthy lifestyle; as it improves blood flow and lymph drainage, getting rid of toxins from the body. I found through the course, some symptoms such as shoulder ache and the backache respond quicker with the massage than medicine.
After this course, I was interested in the Indian Head Massage which was based on Ayurveda; an Indian system of preventative health care dating back 5000 years. This seated massage is very effective and can be received while wearing clothes. I use this treatment at events such as company pamper days, in which a therapist need to treat clients in a short amount of time.
2011 Once I gained confidence with health massages, I was interested in facial massages that don't rely on beauty products or machines. This includes the Ayurveda face lift massage which is non-surgical and uses only hand techniques to make you look youthful, but also feel relaxed.
2015 I took an Aromatherapy Diploma course for self care, as aromatherapy is very benefial for health, beauty, and relieving stress.
Iwork at home and do home visits. The treatments are totally castmised for each clients.
I believe complementary therapy can improve a person's quality of life.
